Jennifer is the most unbelievable of all of the Mary Stewart heroines I’ve met so far – the others have been very likeable – and I found her utterly annoying. Either way, they are moving and perfect for those of you who enjoy romantic fiction. That’s not such a bad thing if you happen to love costume dramas, but it can be an unpleasant surprise if you don’t.
