A geyer style horn has the change valve at the end of the valve cluster, as opposed to the "kruspe style" instrument which has the change valve at the top of the cluster. Geyer horns tend to be brighter and have an even scale and are prized for their orchestral character, which is why most professional symphony players use this style of instrument http://femtalent.cat/library/la-traviata-trombone-1-2-and-3-parts-a-2341. As the trombone in its simplest form has neither crooks, valves nor keys to lower the pitch by a specific interval, trombonists use seven chromatic slide positions. Each position progressively increases the length of the air column, thus lowering the pitch. Extending the slide from one position to the next lowers the pitch by one semitone. Thus, each note in the harmonic series can be lowered by an interval of up to a tritone download. First off, it's a 70H which IMO is the classic single valved bass trombone. Second, it's an Elkhart Conn from the early 1950s, some of the best horns were made during this period. Third, it's been modified by the legendary Larry Minick. He rebuilt the slide, added a custom leadpipe and modified the trigger linkage, as well as silverplated the slide grip. Fourth, I just love the patina on this horn , cited: http://femtalent.cat/library/the-tale-of-tsar-saltan-opera-trombone-3-part-a-4621. There is more counterpoint in this number than most. The Organ has more of a supporting roll than most arrangements. The middle section is very interesting as I cut the organ down to two parts in order to let the soft brass come through. Then the piece builds to a full climax at the end , source: http://femtalent.cat/library/violin-concerto-no-3-op-61-trombone-1-part-qty-2-a-1975. The importance of the bell is demonstrated by the fact that when purchasing a professional, custom made, brass instrument the player will usually be given a choice as to the type of material used to make the bell. A brass instrument’s sound is affected greatly by the room in which it’s recorded. Perhaps the single most important point to consider in microphone placement when recording brass instruments, is that the microphone should be trying to capture the room sound and therefore shouldn’t be placed right at the end of the bell http://www.espacequinzequinze.com/?ebooks/mass-in-c-minor-k-427-417-a-trombone-2-part-a-2699.

Sattler's intention was not to create a trombone that would replace the older F and E♭ bass trombones, but rather to provide an instrument with the ability to cover the range of the bass and tenor trombones seamlessly. The tenorbass trombone did replace the older bass trombones, however, and the bore and bell size were increased later in the nineteenth century to allow for models designed specifically to cope with bass trombone parts; modern bass trombones are derivatives of these late nineteenth century B♭/F trombones that are used to play parts originally intended for the bass trombone in G, F or E♭ , e.g. http://schoolbustobaja.com/?freebooks/symphony-no-1-op-68-trombone-2-part-qty-2-a-1338.

Then, someone came up with the idea of adding a telescoping slide to the mouthpipe of an S-fold trumpet, so that the pitch could be adjusted to play more notes http://borisbeja.eu/lib/festival-performance-solos-trombone-or-baritone. This allows the player to bridge the gap between the first partial with the slide in first position and the second partial with the slide fully extended in seventh position. These valves may be configured in a dependent or independent system. In a dependent system, the first valve lowers the key of the trombone to F. The second valve can only be engaged in conjunction with the first valve, and commonly lowers the key of the trombone to E http://femtalent.cat/library/the-tale-of-tsar-saltan-opera-trombone-3-part-a-4621. Another customer commented: "I would like to compliment you on the ease of purchasing music on-line. I require the music for a wedding in a couple of weeks, and didn't want to wait for music to be sent in the mail. It was great to be able to hear the music and to know the length of the PDF file and performance time." Verify this with the trumpet section before writing flugelhorn parts. Be aware that flugelhorns have a tendency to create intonation problems, especially in the upper register and when played by younger trumpeters.
